I WANT FEW MEMBERS IN MY CHURCH

The Preacher climbed the pulpit and said...

"We give God praise for the privilege to be ranked as the church with the largest number of congregation. It has been an awesome experience having to come to church and not meet our pews empty. You all filled it both with your person and your heart. We started so small and here we are. Glory to God!".

The  church gave a loud ovation which the Preacher could hardly calm down. He had to raise his voice over their applause to keep them quiet. That church was sure the talk of the town. Neighbouring our ministries and even those from abroad come to learn the principles of church growth from this humble ministry which are result viable.

"However...", the Preacher continued, "...in recent times, God began to take me through some series of lessons and opened my eyes to what He will be doing shortly. He has given me some mandate to preach some messages which Himself foretold that it's effect on the church will be surprising.

"To be sincere with you, God actually said our number will reduce drastically as the new series will not go down well with a lot of people. He prefers to have few believers who know Him intimately rather than a million people who are after what is in the Father's hand neglecting what is in His heart. He gave us this unbeatable number of congregation without cajoling people so He alone has the right to sieve His church,
His bride, anyway He dims fit. I am just a tool in His hands.

"You may want ask your neighbour this question. 'For how long will you be able to endure?". Maybe you should add this; 'I won't be surprised if you stopped coming to fellowship here because the wheat and chaff will be separated and the gate is too narrow for extra luggages' . It is either you'd stay and be better or you leave and be bitter. You won't be able to pretend".

The whole assemble was mute. Not only could you here if a pin drops or hear the sigh a the baby in the womb, you would even hear the sound of a feather that falls.

Dears Pastor,
Are your congregation always returning in their thousands every service because you have shifted the ancient land mark? Are they so well adjusted to your messages because you are so careful not to step on toes even if the gospel is sidelined? When will you take up your primary call, fearing God only? Will you keep teaching on ephemeral things while the everlasting principles that Jesus gave are left unattended to? It's high time you left people pleasing and focus on carrying out the mandate of the Kingdom of God no matter who feel offended. Remember, will judge you based on way He has asked you to do not on what you felt like doing.

Dear member of the congregation,
Did you leave that church or planning to because "Their own is too much"? Or because their "over spirituality" choking is you? I guess some of you are not only angry at your pastor, you also feel offended by the Word of God, the Ancient Word that is ever true. You know the bible but still look for every way to align it to soothe your degrading nature and perversion. Instead of aligning to it, you take some part that makes you feel good and ignore the tough ones, the very ones that will make you like Jesus.

You have forgotten so soon that the word of God is not blunt. It is SHARP. Sharp enough to pierce through your tripartite nature. Your spirit answerable to it. Your soul is not impervious to it. In fact, your body cannot run from its impact. Everything is laid bare, nothing hidden or not uncovered.

If what you hear and read in the Bible makes you feel bad it simply means you need to change.  Don't even try to fight it. God loves you enough to help you see the truth. Some are even oblivion to it so they continue in a downward spiral to destruction because their minds have been veiled. The Word of God is a mirror. It will surely reflect what and who you are at the moment and also show you what and who you should be, the very you God sees in Jesus His son.

"Let the word dwell in you richly..."

God bless you sir for this write-up. This, I believe is what the church needs in this generation. May God indeed help us to be humble to receive His word in every area of our lives where we are in error.

Thanks bro. God will help us understand that church is more of preparing the Bride for the Bridegroom not about mix multitudes consisting of wolves in sheep clothing.
